Answers and Explanations

1. (B) The correct sentence is: The old man has ordered some pancakes and sandwiches. We can’t put a preposition after “Order” because it is a transitive verb.

2. (A) The correct sentence is: After you return from Paris, we will come to see you. The conditional clause starting from “after” should be written in the present tense.

3. (A) The correct sentence is: My fiancé has been working in this institute for the last nine months.

4. (C) The correct sentence is: Stronger men should be prohibited from taking advantage of weaker men.

5. (D) These days, many a player is disturbed because of emotional stress. The sentence has no error. Because “Many a” is a singular construction, a singular verb should come after it, not a plural one.

6. (B) The correct sentence is: She was the right candidate for the job.

7. (C) The correct sentence is: Rachel is an intelligent girl and has a childlike grace. “Childish” has a negative connotation.

8. (A) The correct sentence is: On March 20, 2019, a lock-out was declared in the mill. The sentence is in simple past tense.

9. (C) The correct sentence is: When my uncle was unwell, I went to the nursing home on alternate weekends.

10. (B) The correct sentence is: The attractive surroundings of the place enthralled my friend. Surroundings or environs must be in plural form.

11. (C) The correct sentence is: As no help was available, she carried all her luggage herself. Luggage is an uncountable noun and does not have a plural form.

12. (B) The correct sentence is: She was not able to cope with the requirements of the job. “Cope up with” and “Cope up” are grammatically incorrect constructions.

13. (C) The correct sentence is: Lasik has become a vital tool for any complicated eye surgery. “Eyes surgery” is an incorrect construction because adjectives are generally written in a singular form.

14. (B) The correct sentence is: We take immense pleasure in welcoming you to our neighborhood. “In welcome you” is a faulty construction.

15. (B) The correct sentence is: It is highly conceited of him to think that he will succeed every time.

16. (B) The correct sentence is: Either Noah or his brothers have committed this mistake. In case of “either-or” constructions, the proximity principle is applicable. Here, the verb follows the 2nd subject i.e his brothers. So, the correct usage will be “have committed”.

17. (B) The correct sentence is: He as well as his cousins has played for the country. Replace “have played” with “has played” because when 2 subjects are joined using a phrase like “as well as”, the verb follows the 1st subject.

18. (B) The correct sentence is: Mr. Mark is still considered the best male actor by some film experts. “Considered as” is a faulty construction. “As” can’t be placed after considered.

19. (C) The correct sentence is: Agatha has been pursuing a financial accounting programme in my college for one year. “From one year” isn’t correct because in the present perfect continuous tense “for” and not “from” is used showing duration.

20. (C) The correct sentence is: We shall strive to be on time, but do not be anxious if we are late. “We shall be late” is incorrect because a conditional clause, starting with if, can’t be written in the future tense.

21. (B) The correct sentence is: The new tablet is superior to an average laptop. In the case of superior, comparison will be made by “to” and not “than”

22. (B) The correct sentence is: Now-a-days music albums generally comprise 9 or 10 tracks of around 4 minutes each. After comprises “of” is not used.

23. (C) The correct sentence is: Jack, Jill and Jenny are old friends, but they seldom agree with one another. There are 3 persons mentioned in this sentence. The reciprocal pronoun for more than two persons is “one another” and not “each other”.

24. (C) The correct sentence is: India was repeatedly attacked by foreign invaders between Between 1600 AD and 1800 AD. “Between 1600 AD to 1800 AD” is a faulty construction. The correct pair of correlative conjunctions is “between & and”, not “between & to”.

25. (C) The correct sentence is: John’s mother does not approve of his mountain biking. Biking is a gerund and before every gerund, the possessive case is used i.e “his” and not “him”.

Super Vocabulary Quiz by the Best Coaching for CDS Exam

A very warm welcome to all our Shishyas

We hope you all are hale and hearty and completely focused on the task at hand. The competition is undoubtedly intense and the stakes are quite high, but with a positive mindset and exam oriented preparation we shall overcome all the odds.

Mentors from India’s Best Online CDS Coaching Classes & Govt. Job Preparation Institute, Vidya Guru have come to your aid now. So, you need not worry at all. All you need to do is work in the right direction.

Although we cannot really go out, yet we can engage in learning exercises inside our homes. So, let’s get started with our journey towards a stronger English language vocabulary bank.

Here, we would like to discuss something we have observed from years of our interaction with exam aspirants. The fear with English is that it is a foreign language and many are not comfortable with it may be because of the educational background or psychological barrier against learning this language. You have to start thinking in English if you really want to embrace this language. Think about your mother tongue, if somebody says something wrong, you identify it quickly and the same skill has to be developed in English grammar and vocabulary. Then you will be able to identify the mistakes easily.

Okay, so enough of our Guru Gyaan!! Let us move to the quiz that we have brought to you in this set. We have told you earlier also that do not focus on your marks in these quizzes, but learn and apply the words in other contexts. That is our main motto through these quizzes.

Top July GK Questions by Online Classes for Bank Exams

Current GK is one of the most dreaded yet significant sections in any competitive examination. You just can’t ignore it for ignoring it is going to cost you the selection. So much to read, what to follow, how to follow and the most important of all, how to memorize so many facts and information!! This is one section where practice is not of utmost importance like it is in Quantitative Aptitude, English Language etc. but here your memory is tested.

So, the teachers at Vidya Guru, the Best Online SSC CGL Coaching Classes in the country, emphasize Revision, revision and again revision for cracking this section. Enough discussion on the complications of the section!!  But we are not here to tell you the problem; rather we are here to ensure that you get the solution and also assimilate it in such a way that you won’t forget anything at all. So, how should do you go about it?

  • You are reading it from one or two sources and then again revising may be twice and thrice. But there the information is mostly given and it is not in the question-answer format. However, you have to face only questions in the examination.
  • That is why; it becomes important that you revise your current affairs through practice of questions also. This will help you become familiarized with the pattern and also your mind will be able to process the information in this form.
  • When you are writing your examination, these practice questions will come to your memory directly. You will be able to recall them correctly and answer the questions.
  • With that in mind, we, at Vidya Guru, have come up with the concept of revision of current affairs through questions-answers to help you retain information in a more effective manner. The questions will be mixed in order to give you the exam-like feeling. That is why the questions will not be based on one particular topic only.
  • Take this quiz as a mini mock test and check your scores. If you are scoring 50% after negative marking, you have to work further on your preparation. Go back to your study materials and read it again. If you are scoring 50%-75%, you require more practice of questions rather than only going through your notes. However, if you are scoring above 75%, congratulations, you are doing the right thing!!

So, let’s dive into the first set of questions and check where we stand in our preparation.

We sincerely hope that it will be helpful for your preparation!!

Top Vocabulary Quiz by the Best Online IBPS Coaching Classes

English Language in the competitive examinations can be divided into three parts – comprehension, grammar and vocabulary. Whereas the learnings in the other two sections are limited and you can finish them without any issue, the syllabus of vocabulary is never ending. Vocabulary simply implies the stock of words. But is it possible to have unlimited stock of words? It is practically impossible. So, how to go ahead in this section? Is there no other way out for the candidates?

Vocabulary questions can be divided into two segments – Contextual Vocabulary and Direct Vocabulary. Contextual Vocab means questions from reading comprehension, cloze test etc. whereas the direct vocab questions include synonyms, antonyms etc. The first type can be solved with the help of your reading capability and regular practice in Banking PO and SSC CGL Online Coaching Classes at Vidya Guru. The second part can be mastered only through continuous acquisition of word power and creating mind maps to retain the meaning and application of such words.

Our objective is to assimilate the meanings of the words that we learn. That can be best done through learning the application of such words. Once you see a word in a sentence that registers in your mind more strongly. Apart from that, association of a word with a real-life situation also helps in retaining the words and their meanings.

Online SSC Coaching classes in Delhi

Best SSC Coaching in Delhi is a subjective bias; Krusty Krab isn’t everyone’s cup of tea because you may have an equal probability of running into Spongebobs as well as Squidwards.

However, when you say “SSC Coaching classes”, you hear “Delhi” in the backdrop. No doubt that over the years Delhi has become the new “Kota Factory” sadly without the yummy kachoris. But at the end of this conundrum of notes, , syllabus, revision etc. lays the lucrative “Govt. Job” that has attracted most of the talented young people. For peeps that have little to no clue about SSC CGL, here are some basic key points:

  • Conduction frequency-every year
  • Organizing body- Central Govt.
  • Conducted in 3 stages, namely
    • Preliminary (Tier-I)
    • Mains (Tier-II)
    • Interview

Now don’t break a sweat thinking that you have to go through all these hoops by yourself. A good institute will have your back all through the way, but finding one is a mindboggling task nonetheless. So, what sets apart over the top advertised institutes from the genuine lot? Free demo classes might give you a glimpse, but if you are as confused as Vaibhav in the beginning episodes, you might want to have a checklist of all the key points to keep an eye out for:

Faculty: Enthusiasm is just as contagious as laughter, a great teacher will not only be an expert in his/her subject but will capture your attention in almost a mesmerizing way. A preliminary analysis of a coaching institute will bring in a lot of insight about the faculty teaching in it.

Concept building: The foundation of any skill set is the associated concept, so instead of resorting to cramming and reproducing you should strive for the institute which focuses more on concept building than anything else.

Success Rate: It’s a slippery slope when it comes to comparing the performance based on the number of the student an institute was able to guide verses the “rate” of success an institute produced along with the consistency in the results.

Online video: With millennials having access to the internet right from the moment they open their eyes, it should be no news that they prefer concise online content over notes. For they give you the necessary trajectory and the freedom to study at your own time and pace.

Updated test: An out dated test pattern brings along with it the most unwelcomed form of surprise. The best SSC Coaching class will not only keep you updated with the pattern but will make you an expert in deducing the strategy around it.

Doubt clearance: When in doubt, ask! That’s the only way to bash out the incompetency, but the way institute tackles it can vary.

Now many institutes like Vidyaguru, Plutus Academy, Paramount Coaching, Career Power Institute, Singh Academy, Motion Coaching Institute etc. are considered as the best SSC CGL coaching institutes in Delhi, however Vidyaguru excels when it comes to success rate, producing consistent result for the last 10 years while being friendly on the pocket.
